about melissa

What do I want you to know about me? I've been married for 18 years, and am the proud mom of Lucas (17), Olivia (15), Madelyn (13) and Grace (11). I'm currently in my fourth year of homeschooling our kids and love the freedom it gives us to explore life outside the four walls of a classroom. I'm an Enneagram 9w1. I'm a lover of Jesus, a good iced vanilla latte, listening to music 24/7, lazy days, shopping at Madewell, the shows Parenthood and early Grey's Anatomy, vacations, the smell of citrus, and documenting my families life!

I think happiness is a choice, life is an adventure, and it's important to always say "thank you" and "I love you". When I was in college, professors would ask me what I wanted to do with my life and I always answered enthusiastically, “be a mom!”. When a dream is placed in your heart, there is no escaping it. I have drive, determination and great critical thinking skills, and although being organized isn't my strength, you wouldn't know it by the way I run my business - just don't go peeking in my pantry. I'm a glass is full and overflowing kind of girl - the eternal optimist! I'm super sentimental and love to use exclamation marks!! What can I say, I'm an excited person. My parents have been married for 43 years and I'm so inspired by their commitment and love. The longer I'm married, the more I understand just how much work it takes to make relationships thrive.

For over thirteen years, I've photographed hundreds of weddings and thousands of sessions! But I’m most proud of the friendships I’ve made over the years. My circle of people to love has grown exponentially because of my job. I’ve had the great honor of not only watching people walk down an aisle and vow to love each other for the rest of their lives, but then I get to witness those vows in action. From weddings to newborn sessions to growing families and high-school senior sessions. Can you believe I’ve even gotten to the point of photographing weddings for adults that were once gap-toothed elementary-aged kids cheesing for my camera? It’s truly humbling!

I hope I get the chance to meet you in person, find out all the wonderful things that make you who you are, and ofcourse, to photograph the people that mean the most to you!
